April 2020 Newsletter

Greetings from Braestone Club,

We hope that this letter finds you healthy and safe during these unprecedented times. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, many changes have come to light that effect our day to day lives. As you are aware, measures to manage the spread of COVID-19 are changing quickly as our provincial and federal agencies make difficult but necessary decisions.

It was confirmed recently that golf courses were not deemed an essential service by the federal government, and the mandated closure of all non-essential services were extended. Although the mandated closure has made a minor impact on our operations, we still plan to open Braestone Club by May 30th.

As we navigate through these unprecedented times, our staff has worked diligently while practicing physical distancing to improve our operations and health and safety practices. Once Braestone Club is permitted to open, we want to ensure that we satisfy a commitment to our staff and members that their health and safety is our top priority.

Overall, the course is in great shape after the winter, and we will continue to maintain its integrity as we move toward opening day. As we look forward to the first tee time of 2020, our team has strived to deliver to following;

  • New Yardages and Ratings have been achieved and signs and scorecards were produced;
  • Men’s Night format and dates are set. (Wednesday @ 5:30 June to September 2020);
  • Ladies’ Day format and dates are set. (Tuesday June to September 2020);
  • A new bridge and cart path were completed on #6. The old cart path location will be filled in to a more natural state.

 We were truly excited about how well the construction of the new clubhouse was proceeding, but It was confirmed on Friday April 3rd that the construction of our new clubhouse must stop as per the recent mandate from the provincial government. Until then, we have been able to maintain schedule while ensuring the health and safety of our staff and trade partners, and practicing physical distancing.

Once we are permitted to open, the use of our temporary trailer will continue until the new building is complete.

It is our hope that we see the other side of this pandemic in the not so distant future. These are unprecedented times, and as this situation is very fluid, we are committed to providing updates accordingly.

Thank you, and be safe.

Sincerely,

Greg Hickey

General Manager
