07 May UPDATE: May 7, 2019

The weather this weekend presented the first true signs of spring and was certainly suitable for golf. However, due to the early arrival of last winter and the inconsistent weather this spring our opening date is delayed. With construction and site work underway we anticipate our opening date for members only to occur in the final week of May. Braestone Club has been preparing for opening day since closing last fall with the hope of delivering a course with two temporary tees on hole #1 and #10.
We are making great progress, and the temporary pro shop and washrooms facilities arrived this past Monday. We will begin construction on the social deck this week in preparation to provide members and guests with a visit and tour. We will send news regarding this event in the near future. As much as we would like to provide more information, it has been very difficult to predict progress each week. When the weather cooperates, it is incredible to see the progress, and once we open we are confident you will be excited to experience it for yourselves. The progress made throughout these rainy conditions has been nothing short of remarkable!
Kyle and crew are ready to go and only need the course to dry. The course wintered well and the maintenance department is excited to have a new addition to the irrigation system installed this week. The new system will only enhance our ability to grow grass quickly in areas that we had previously not been able to reach. This addition provides us with the latest technology in golf course irrigation systems.
Denise and the Pro Shop Staff are ready to greet you this season. We have also added personnel to improve our operations, and we are happy to welcome Brady Zordan, a graduate of the Georgian College Golf Management program. Brady’s experience will serve as a great asset to Braestone Club. We are also excited to welcome back Kelvin, Dylan and Jonah again this year. Additionally, you will all be happy to welcome Hailey, our new Beverage Cart operator!
This past Friday I had the opportunity to visit Brooklea Golf Club in Midland to arrange a reciprocal play program. Until July 1st, 2019 you may play for $20 including cart. After July 1st you will be able to play for $35 including cart. The prices are consistent should you decide to walk or ride. Once final payment has been received, we will provide you with your membership card, and you can begin to take advantage of this program.
We understand the excitement for the upcoming season, but unfortunately, access to the property is not available as your safety is our #1 priority. We will send notification when safe to visit. We understand it has been a very long winter and we are doing everything as quick and professional as possible to get you on the course. We appreciate your continued patience and support, and soon we will all enjoy Braestone Club together. I personally thank you all for understanding. We will continue to provide further update in the weeks to come.
Best regards,
Greg Hickey, G.M./PGA of Canada
